On Wednesday, May 7, 2003 in Indianapolis my iBook (late 2001 model) was stolen from my hotel room as was a Toshiba down the hall. Although it took a few days for this to be made clear to me, hotel insurance covered my loss minus a deductible. It sucks overall.

Maybe you can help me find it. I know the chances of recovering a laptop are slim, but I still want My Property back. After all, it's Mine.

There are three methods for positively determining whether a given iBook is mine or not.

  1. Remove the keyboard by sliding the two latches down and pulling up. Does it say in permanent marker "PROPERTY OF PATRICK TUDOR" with my email address included?
  2. Open up a terminal and type ifconfig -a. Do these MAC addresses match? en0 (10/100-base-Tx) is 00:03:93:45:81:0c and en1 (Airport 802.11b) is 00:30:65:1e:08:67
  3. When the serial number is scanned does it have a permanent AppleCare case attached to it referencing the Sheriff's Department case?
